Thanks to everyone who took part in our 2nd annual sponsored cycle ride around St James’ park last weekend. In total 329 laps of the park were completed between 15 beavers, cubs and scouts. Well done for doing your best and raising money for the group.
Our good friend Kate Budd has signed up for the gruelling 10 mile Great South Run in October and will be raising money for Wessex Heartbeat in memory of her late father Lee Budd.
Lee dedicated his life to Scouting in Hampshire and had very strong links with our group. He tirelessly offered support to our current and former leaders and young people. He organised countless activities and camps including the bi-annually Wye Valley camp and many on-the-water events. It is almost a year since his passing and is still very sorely missed.
Kate has been busy fundraising and made it into the Echo this week. Take a look to read more. Please dig deep and consider sponsoring her. CLICK HERE to make a donation online and follow her progress. Good Luck Kate!
It’s been the wettest June on record, but the Sun came out for our BBQ fundraiser this week. It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying themselves and meeting other members of the group. The event helped to raise vital funds for our group. Thanks to all the organisers, cooks and helpers. Please support us and join future events soon.
Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts joined together at District Camp at Ferny Crofts last weekend. Everyone took part in Olympic themed events and for the thrill seekers there was the zip line and rock climbing. It was fantastic to meet other groups from Southampton and take part in a huge camp fire on Sunday evening. Thanks to all the parents who also came to help and make the camp a success. Even the weather was kind considering what a wet month it has been.
Here are a few photos from the scout section. (More to follow)
